 | With your document open in Word, save any changes to your document. |
 | If you want to preserve some of the metadata in a version which will not
be sent to the client, copy the document first and then open the one you
wish to clean. |
 | Go to File, PCG Metadata Assistant |
 | Review all the checkboxes and make sure it is set to clean what you want
it to. Be careful the settings are correct because there is no undo
once you strip the metadata from your document. The default setting is
for all boxes in the Metadata Options section to be checked. |
 | NOTE - if your document contains redlining (track changes) or comments and
you want to share those with the person you are sending your document to,
uncheck the appropriate boxes before cleaning.
 | Conversely, if you previously turned off the box for track changes and
you have no track changes to share, turn that checkbox back on. |
|
 | Click the button for Clean Document(s) |
 | Click Yes I Understand on the Metadata Assistant Warning which again
cautions you to be careful. |
 | If you wish, review the text box describing the cleaning process that just
happened |
 | Click OK. |
 | Save and close the document |
 | Proceed to email the document if you need to do that.
